Blair Memorial Flute Band

On the 14th August Valerie had the honour of
dedicating the new uniforms for Blair Memorial Flute
Band, it was their 45th anniversary of their formation.

The band was formed as a memorial to the death of
3 young people in the community. Andrew and John Blair
died trying to save Heather Birney who got into trouble
swimming in the local river.

The band held the dedication service at the side of the
river where the accident took place. The band master
David Swann welcome everyone to the service and Valerie
read the 150th Psalm which is one adopted as the marching
band psalm, followed by a short talk. Valerie spoke about how
God works in different ways, then dedicated the uniforms and
the people wearing them to the glory of God. The band then
played the hymn "In Christ Alone". The Service finished with
the dedication after which Valerie was presented with a beautiful
flower arrangement. The band them made its way out of the park
where Valerie then presented the band with a cake to celebrate
their anniversary. The band paraded Omagh and on return were
treated to a piece of cake.
It was a wonderful evening and a night of great blessing.
